New York, SANA-Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari said that the US, France and Britain have made every effort to undermine Syria and its people.

“Armed terrorist groups have consistently used civilians as human shields and in the last 20 days Damascus has been targeted with 1000 shells,” al-Jaafari said at a UN Security Council session on Syria.

He added that supporting terrorists in Syria is the main task of US-led international coalition.

Al-Jaafari affirmed that some countries’ support to terrorists cost USD 137 billion and WikiLeaks uncovered the US anti-Syrian policies.

“The Syrian government welcomes and hails Russia’s role, especially President Vladimir Putin, in holding the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi, which confirms that the political process cannot begin or continue without Syria ,” he said.

Al-Jaafari affirmed that only the Syrian people can decide the future of their country through the intra-Syrian national dialogue.

He added that the US presence in Syria violates the UNSC resolution no.2254, which confirms the preservation of the sovereignty, independence and unity of Syria.

In turn, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzya said that all the resolution on Syria must be decided by the Syrians themselves without any interference, adding that the Syrian People will form the constitutional committee without any foreign dictates.
