Czech government agrees to provide humanitarian and developmental aid to Syria estimated at 8.7 million dollars

Prague, SANA- Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka announced on Monday that the Czech Republic will provide Syria with humanitarian and development aid worth 195 million Czech Korunas that equal 8.7 million dollars for 2016 and the coming three years.

Czech Foreign Ministry said that the aid will focus on reconstruction and rehabilitation of health, educational and social facilities and other infrastructure which are necessary for economic and social development, in addition to providing a long term support for education, civil society and local administrations.

“The Czech Republic will enhance diplomatic and economic relations with Syria during the coming years,” the ministry said, adding that a work group among various Czech ministries will be established to oversee the implementation of humanitarian and development aid programs and the selection of projects and offering initiatives.

All projects to which the Czech Republic will contribute in Syria will be a foundation for future bilateral relations in the economic field between the two countries, according to the ministry.

Two Czech planes carrying medical aid offered by the Czech Red Cross to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) as a batch of Czech medical aid to Syria arrived in Damascus International Airport on June 5th and 7th to be distributed in various Syrian areas.
